Treats in the Streets

Thursday was a very busy day for the Johnson family. Matthew took half the day off so that we could take a tour of the new Hospital that I will be delivering at. It was a lot of walking and poor Matthew had to hold Alexa most of the time, but by the end of the tour I felt a lot better about what to do and where to go when I go into labor.

Since Alexa is Princess Belle for Halloween, at the last minute, I decided to make Matthew a t-shirt that looks like the Beast suit. It took a lot of time since I don't have a sewing machine and had to hand stitch all of it, but it turned out great for the most part. He needed to look like a prince and I think I accomplished that. I had to work on it all day Thursday because we were to go to our first night of trick-or-treating. Luckily I was able to finish it and we were on our way to a fun filled evening!

Alexa and Matthew were absolutely adorable together, I even got compliments on the t-shirt!

Alexa loves wearing her Princess Belle dress! She had a lot of fun trick-or-treating and the fun isn't over yet, we still have a few more fun evenings planned!

Irvine Park Railroad - Pumpkin Patch

Sunday we went to go pick out pumpkins at Irvine Park. It was a lot of fun! Alexa picked out 3 pumpkins, went on a pony ride, and we all went on a Haystack ride!

A few days later, Alexa decorated her pumpkin while Matthew and I carved ours.

Princess Alexa

So for about 2 weeks now Alexa has been sleeping in our bed. About 2 weeks ago she woke up with a bad dream and we tried everything to calm her down, but then finally brought her into our bed. That is when it all began!

Every night we tried a different approach to putting her down to sleep in her crib and every night she would either not go to sleep so she would cry until we came and got her, or she would sleep from 8pm to about 9 or 9:30pm. Either way she knew what she wanted and she wasn't going to stop crying until she got it. In one way, how can we be upset with the fact she loves us so much and feels so comfortable with us but on the other hand a Queen size bed, especially with a pregnant belly, is a little uncomfortable for 3 people. Alexa sleeps so cute and we love waking up to her every morning. Plus she is a really great sleeper. When she slept with us, we would put her down at 8pm and she knew it was bedtime. Matthew and I would still watch TV, usually our Netflix movie or episodes of The Office on Netflix, and Alexa would go to sleep and stay asleep. I'm sure she knew that if she caused any kind of difficulty going to sleep that we would put her back in her room, haha. She also is a perfect sleeper because she sleeps straight, she doesn't get up and sleep with her head all over the bed, so really it was a pleasure to have her with us, but there was just not enough room.

For a couple of days now I have been pondering the idea of getting her her own bed and putting it in our room so we both kinda win. Matthew and I get the room in our bed back, and she gets the comfort of still being with us. Plus when Mason comes, he can move over into Alexa's crib after he's about 3 months or when he outgrows the bassinet we have in our room. It's a win, win! So yesterday, Matthew Alexa and I went to Babiesrus. The last time we went, Alexa was actually playing all over the floor model of the princess bed, so we thought if she still likes it that we would get it for her and try this new idea out. She still loved it, so we bought her her princess bed and some sheets to match. As we were putting it together she was all over it, but once she realized what it was starting to look like she wanted to get on it and sit on it and then when it was finally done she grabbed her cozy and climbed on her new bed and laid her cute little head down. Matthew and I were so relieved that she loved it that much. We could not keep her off of it and she loved showing it off, when her Papa and grandma came home.

So I bet you're wondering how her first night went? It went very well!!! At 8pm we gave her her bottle of milk and tucked her in her new big girl bed. She fell asleep and Matthew and I enjoyed quite a few episodes of The Office. So far so good! Throughout the night I kept checking on her and one time she sat up and fell out, but she was fine the bed is so close to the ground that falling out wouldn't hurt my tough girl, so I tucked her back in bed and she fell asleep with no crying. Then about 3 times she would get out of her bed and bring her blanket over to me so I would get up and tuck her back in bed and she would go back to sleep really quick. She did so well, and I'm very thankful that she loves her new bed. Problem solved! By the way, Alexa has a new pet! Her new puppy that she plays with all the time! We got it for her at the Swap Meet a few weeks ago and they have been pals ever since. Alexa even pretends to give it water by putting it next to Roxy's doggie dish. It's so cute! Her puppy walks and barks, so we try to keep the switch off as much as possible, but it was by far the best $5 bucks spent!

Plus for Halloween she is going to be Princess Belle, so she is really into the whole pretty princess stuff! I love having a girl!

A family tradition!

This last Saturday a whole group of us went to the Apple/Pumpkin Farms! It's now a family tradition and it was so much fun, and it was even better than last year because Matthew was able to come with us since he has a normal Mon-Fri job now. Plus my sister-in-law and my nephew came so it was great to see them and watch Rhett and Alexa play the whole day. We first went to the Apple farm, and Matthew and I made homemade apple cider and it is so delicious! Making your own cider takes time and lots of muscle! After we made our cider we all went apple picking! It was a lot of walking for my almost 29 week pregnant body to endure, but so worth the fun we were all having, especially Alexa! Last year she wasn't walking yet and she didn't understand a whole lot so this year was really fun since she could walk and understand that you pick the apples and put them in the bag. She tried carrying the small bag of apples after we were done, but she kept letting go of one of the handles because the bag was way too heavy for her. After our apple adventure we went to Carls Jr. and ate some lunch before we went to the pumpkin farm. The pumpkin farm is my favorite part! They have so many fun things to do like a corn maze, petting zoo, picking pumpkins, music, food, and other fun things for kids a little older can enjoy like bounce houses and slides. Unfortunately, since we spent most of the day at the apple farm by the time we got to the pumpkin farm we were all so tired and you could tell that the kids were a little tired too since they didn't get a nap at all so we didn't stay as long as we would have liked. Ashley and I took the kids to feed the goats and they had a blast! After, we went through the corn maze, then we took the kids to ride the ponies. Once we were done with all of that we were even more tired, so we decided to skip the pumpkins and leave. Matthew and I are just going take Alexa to Irvine Park to pick out her pumpkin. Irvine park also has fun things to do this time of year, so we are excited to take Alexa since last year she was too little do anything.
